Manchester has produced more Lotto millionaires than anywhere else in the UK over the past three years, new figures suggest.
According to National Lottery data, Manchester leads the millionaire table with 30 recorded since 2023. Liverpool follows with 29, and Birmingham with 27. Other areas featuring among the top performers recently include Belfast, Portsmouth, Leicester, Glasgow, Nottingham, Peterborough and Swansea.
140 millionaires so far in 2026
The figures also show how quickly new winners are emerging across Britain. A total of 140 Lotto players have become millionaires so far in 2026, which equated to around one every 48 hours.
More than half of those wins have come since the launch of the new-look Lotto game in June, where players get two chances to win from the same ticket. Organisers expect the change to increase the number of new Lotto millionaires each year.
Historic totals since 1994
According to Lotto data going back to the launch of the lottery in 1994, Birmingham leads the UK for the total number of National Lottery millionaires, with 234 recorded. Belfast follows with 202, while Glasgow takes third place with 178. Manchester sits at sixth place with 163.
The figures cover both winners who went public and those who chose to remain anonymous. They relate to postcode areas, rather than individual full postcodes or council boundaries.

Relative luck by population
While bigger postcode areas will usually have more winners simply because more people live there, comparing totals with estimated adult population can give a better view of how "lucky" an area is.
On this measure, Motherwell tops the table. Its historical total works out at one millionaire for every 4,156 adults - equivalent to about 2.41 millionaires per 10,000 adults.
Watford is second and Liverpool third, with smaller postcode areas including Dumfries and Llandrindod Wells also making the top 10.
The top 10 postcode areas for millionaires relative to their adult population are:

- Liverpool
- Dumfries
- Romford

- Llandrindod Wells
- St Albans

- Hull
