Manchester United are selling 'pitch cubes' made of pieces of the former turf at Old Trafford for £125.
United resurface the pitch every summer, but in June, they completely dug up the turf for the first time in 14 years. The club salvaged pieces of turf from the operation, and they are now being sold as keepsakes for £125.
Club advertises mementoes to fans
United have advertised the mementoes across their social media and sent emails directly to fans.
The description of the 7x7cm pitch cubes on the club's website reads: "Take home a piece of Old Trafford with this official turf cube, perfect for fans who want a keepsake from one of the most famous pitches in the world."
"Carefully preserved, this piece of turf makes a priceless memento of iconic games played at home and keeps the memories of matchdays alive. Perfect for gifting to passionate Reds, this turf cube makes a great addition to desks or can be displayed in a cabinet with other Manchester United collectables."
Previous turf sale in 1999
This is not the first time United have raised money by selling pieces of the former Old Trafford turf. In 1999, the club sold a limited-edition paperweight featuring turf from the previous 11 years for £45.
However, wide-scale attention has been drawn to the club's latest turf keepsake, as United are seen as cash-strapped following the announcement of their end-of-year financial results on Wednesday afternoon.
Record revenues but rising losses
United posted record revenues for the 2025/26 season of £677.6million, but they once again posted an overall loss of £43m, compared to a £33m loss the year before.
The debt levels hanging over the club also continue to rise, partly as a result of a change in interest rates and also the refinancing of some bonds in June of this year.
United insiders say stabilising the business side still requires "hard work and financial discipline".
