Manchester United have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye, with former manager Ruben Amorim endorsing the Senegal international. The 26-year-old has been placed on United's transfer shortlist as the club seeks to strengthen their left-wing options during the summer window.
Amorim's praise for Ndiaye
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash between United and Everton at Old Trafford last November, Amorim singled out Ndiaye as one of two players capable of troubling the Red Devils' defence. The Portuguese boss said: "I think [Jack] Grealish is doing really well. He can push that team, can give weight to that team. [Iliman] Ndiaye is an amazing player."
Amorim added: "So, all these things, [it] is a more complete team, and David Moyes is doing an amazing job. It's going to be really, really tough to win the game." Everton went on to secure a 1-0 victory despite playing most of the match with 10 men after Idrissa Gana Gueye was sent off for slapping teammate Michael Keane.
Ndiaye's impact at Everton
Ndiaye has established himself as Everton's standout performer over two seasons, scoring six league goals and providing three assists this campaign. His versatility allows him to operate on either flank or as a number 10, making him an attractive prospect for United as they prepare for Champions League football next season.
The Senegal international is expected to feature in a friendly against Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, and a strong performance could increase his transfer fee. With three years remaining on his Everton contract, Ndiaye represents a potentially cost-effective option compared to other targets.
United's transfer plans
United have also expressed interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers. Diomande, an Ivory Coast international, is a priority target for Liverpool, with Leipzig demanding £86 million for the 19-year-old. Rogers' future at Villa is uncertain, with several Premier League clubs monitoring his situation; Villa may consider selling the England starlet for around £80 million.
United are close to completing their first summer signing, having agreed a deal with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old will move to Old Trafford for an initial £35 million to replace Casemiro, who left last month. However, Ederson's inclusion in Brazil's World Cup squad has delayed the finalisation of the transfer.
The club remains active in the midfield market, anticipating the possible departure of Manuel Ugarte after a disappointing two-year spell.
