Manchester United have confirmed that Jadon Sancho and five other players will depart the club this month. Sancho, who joined from Borussia Dortmund for £73 million in 2021, made 83 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. His final appearance for the club came in the 2024 Community Shield, where he featured as a second-half substitute against Manchester City.
Sancho's Loan Spells and Free Transfer
The 26-year-old England international spent the latter part of the 2023/24 season back at Dortmund on loan, followed by temporary moves to Chelsea for 2024/25 and Aston Villa for 2025/26. Despite United's efforts to secure a transfer fee in previous windows, they were ultimately unable to do so, and Sancho will leave on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of June.
Casemiro's Departure Confirmed
Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who joined from Real Madrid in 2022, confirmed his exit in January. He finished the season strongly under Michael Carrick, helping secure Champions League qualification. Casemiro made over 150 appearances for United, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. In a farewell message, he said: "Manchester will forever be my home. These past four years have been unforgettable."
Malacia and Academy Players Leave
Tyrell Malacia, signed from Feyenoord for £13 million in 2022, showed promise in his debut season with 39 appearances but suffered a serious knee injury that sidelined him for 18 months. After returning to fitness in November 2024, he made only 12 more appearances and will now leave when his contract expires. Academy players Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey, and Malachi Sharpe are also departing, with the club providing aftercare support to help them find new clubs.
