Shopper Tanya O'Neil was browsing her local TKMaxx when she came across a Louis Vuitton handbag that carried a red discount sticker, and the price left her stunned.
In a Facebook post, O'Neil wrote: "Well, I NEVER thought I’d see a genuine LV bag with a RED sticker." The bag was priced at £540, and fellow shoppers noted that TKMaxx now stocks many designer bags, with one commenting: "they have lots of designer bags in TKMaxx now it’s great."
Pre-Loved Designer Range
Another shopper pointed out: "It’s pre-loved, they have loads on the website. They’re normally going for the £700-£800 mark." The TKMaxx website offers guidance on caring for pre-loved bags: "Looking after your pre-loved bag ensures it stays looking fabulous for years to come. For leather bags, a gentle wipe with a soft, dry cloth is often all that’s needed."
It adds: "When you’re not using it, store it in a dust bag away from direct sunlight to protect the material and maintain its shape."
Mixed Reactions From Shoppers
Reactions were divided. One woman said: "State of those handles," suggesting she would not buy a designer handbag in that condition. However, another shopper noted that "some people collect them like that" and prefer a worn look.
One commenter shared: "I got a Louis briefcase for £210 a few years back on a yellow sticker, it had a broken lock, so I just took it to the [Louis Vuitton] store, and they fixed it for £50 lol."
Others argued the brand is too widely faked to justify the purchase, with one writing: "You have to realise that everyone who sees you with it, will presume it's fake... so I can't see the point to be honest." Another said they owned a "collection of fakes" that had "lasted years," questioning the value of buying the real item.
