Lidl's Tronic dehumidifier, priced at £79.99, will be available in the chain's Middle Aisle from Sunday, September 27, while stocks last. The appliance is designed to speed up laundry drying by removing moisture from the air.
Drying clothes outdoors is a common choice in summer, but autumn and winter bring rain and cold, pushing many to dry laundry indoors. This can lead to issues, especially in homes prone to damp, where wet clothes may worsen conditions and take days to dry properly. Even with a heated airer, evaporated moisture can linger, while tumble dryers can be costly to run.
How the dehumidifier works
The 245W Tronic model has an extraction rate of up to 10 litres per 24 hours. Target humidity can be pre-set between 30% and 80%, and there is a dedicated “laundry-drying” setting.
The appliance features a removable 2.1-litre tank and a washable filter. A window allows users to check the water level, and a warning signal alerts when the tank is nearly full. Four castors and a handle make it easy to move between rooms, and a hose connection allows for continuous operation.
Cost-effective alternative
At under £80, the dehumidifier is cheaper than many comparable models on the market. Money Saving Expert's Martin Lewis recommends using a low-wattage dehumidifier instead of an expensive tumble dryer to dry laundry for a fraction of the cost.
