Lidl has unveiled a new pair of winter boots priced at £6.99 that bear a striking resemblance to a £165 designer alternative from UGG. The Esmara Ladies' Boots will be available in stores from Sunday, October 4, in either dark brown or black.
Design and availability
The boots feature a "soft and fleecy faux sheepskin lining" and are crafted from faux suede. The dark brown version is slightly longer than the black one, which is cropped. Sizes range from four to seven and a half.
Lidl's budget offering is comparable to UGG's Women's Classic Mini II Boot in dusted cocoa, which retails at £165. The UGG version comes in sizes three to 10, is made from genuine sheepskin and fur, and is available in colours including black, shaded clover, sand and dusty orchid.
Customer feedback on UGG boots
The UGG boots have attracted numerous positive reviews. One customer commented: "Fits like a glove. So comfy, can't wait for the winter season. Perfect colour." Another added: "I wear UGGs all year round. Great all-weather shoe!"
However, some customers have raised concerns about sizing and quality. One said: "Bought these boots 3-4 months ago, and they've already developed a hole in the toe. Quite disappointing. I've owned several pairs of UGG boots, all lasting 5-10 years. Quality has clearly gone down."
Another noted: "The quality of these boots has declined exponentially over the past 5-10 years. Seams, inner fur texture, and colour do not match expectations or the price paid. I will be exploring UGG Since 1974 in the future."
Alternative options
Marks and Spencer also offers a similar boot priced at £38. The Suede Flatform Slipper Boots are available in sizes three to eight in chestnut or mink and are made from leather.
