Lidl is set to open five new stores across England on Thursday, February 19, creating up to 160 jobs. The simultaneous openings mark a major milestone in the supermarket's ambitious growth strategy, according to the retailer.
The new stores are part of Lidl's recent announcement of 19 new stores opening in just eight weeks. Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB, said: “We’re starting the new year as we mean to go on, with a major investment that reinforces our commitment to delivering the best experience for customers and creating a positive impact for the communities we serve.”
These stores will join Lidl's 'Feed it Back' surplus food donation scheme from day one. In partnership with Neighbourly, the initiative provided 18.5 million meals to 6.8 million people across Great Britain last year, ensuring that as Lidl grows, its support for local households grows with it.
