Lidl is giving 1,000 customers the chance to win 'golden tickets' to help them access affordable, healthier food choices. To kick-start the new university year, Lidl is offering students the chance to win a "Live Well Golden Ticket" through Lidl Plus.
Lidl's Live Well marker helps shoppers identify products that support "personal and planetary health". Lucky winners will receive one free Live Well item every week until the end of the year. For a chance to win one of 1,000 'Golden Tickets', students can visit the Lidl website and enter the draw before midnight on October 2.
How to enter the draw
Students must provide their name, university or college name, email address and mobile number associated with their Lidl Plus account.
According to the supermarket, while almost 65% of younger generations actively try to eat healthily, 57% have chosen less healthy options because they were cheaper. The research also showed that perceptions of cost are the biggest barrier to healthy eating.
Support for student budgets
Georgina Hall, Director of Corporate Affairs at Lidl GB, said: "Starting university or college is often the first time young people are responsible for cooking and shopping for themselves, making affordable, balanced meals that are simple to prepare especially important.
"We're proud to be a student favourite for customers seeking quality and value, and we want to support them to make healthier, more sustainable choices throughout the academic year via our Live Well range, market-leading value, and Lidl Plus rewards."
New student recipes
Lidl has also teamed up with renowned budget chef Miguel Barclay, creator of the bestselling One Pound Meals series, to launch seven new student recipes for £1 or less. The quick and easy recipes have been designed for both health and to fit a student budget.
The recipes are said to be inspired by the principles of the Planetary Health Diet and the UK's Eatwell Guide, encouraging students to adopt healthier and more sustainable food habits by making simple swaps such as incorporating a greater variety of plant-based foods and choosing wholegrain options.
Miguel Barclay, chef and creator of the One Pound Meals series, said: "Student budgets can be tight, but that shouldn't restrict access to delicious, healthy meals. I've really enjoyed reimagining some classic student staples with an approach that's nutritious, kind to the planet and affordable.
The seven meals for £7 elevate simple ingredients into delicious and filling meals via step-by-step recipes that will be easy to recreate in student halls - helping them to eat well without eating into their budget.
