Leapmotor T03 Becomes UK's Cheapest New Car at £12,995

The Leapmotor T03 has become the United Kingdom's most affordable new car, with a revised starting price of £12,995. The all-electric hatchback, produced by the Stellantis-owned brand, now undercuts rivals such as MG and Dacia.

Price Reduction and Leap-Grant Enhancement

Leapmotor has enhanced its 'Leap-Grant' scheme, cutting £3,000 from the T03's purchase price. The brand originally launched the Leap-Grant ahead of the government's own Electric Car Grant scheme. Since its UK launch last year, Leapmotor has recorded 10,000 vehicle registrations.

Range and Standard Features

The T03 delivers up to 165 miles on a single charge. Standard equipment across all variants includes a 10.1-inch infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, and adaptive cruise control. The car also features a comprehensive driver assistance package: adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and blind-spot detection are all included as standard.

Industry Reaction

Damien Dally, Leapmotor UK managing director, said: "When we launched our industry-first Leap-Grant a year ago, we offered simplicity, clarity, and financial savings for customers left confused and in limbo by the Government's own scheme. To celebrate 12 months of helping buyers 'take the leap' to electrification, we're delighted to be doubling the Leap-Grant on the T03, making it not just the most affordable new EV in the UK, but the most affordable new car full stop."

Government Electric Car Grant

The government's Electric Car Grant provides a discount of up to £3,750 on the purchase price of a new electric vehicle. However, eligible models must meet strict criteria covering country of manufacture, shipping method to the UK, and overall energy efficiency.
