KP Snacks has released an updated category-wide ranging guide, 25 to Thrive, to help retailers maximise sales in the bagged snacks category. The guide spotlights 25 must-stock price-marked packs (PMPs) and is highlighted in a new video by Joanne Lavous, Impulse Category Lead at KP Snacks.
Category significance
Bagged snacks are worth over £5.4bn and are bought by 98% of UK households, making them a critical sales driver in convenience stores. The category appears in 1 in 5 baskets and includes over 500 SKUs, which can make ranging decisions challenging.
KP Snacks' impartial guidance recommends an optimum core range of 25 PMPs, which are fundamental to effective ranging by offering clear value and winning shopper trust. In the Symbol and Independent channel, Eat Now PMPs represent 61% of category sales.
Proven impact
These core 25 SKUs deliver almost a third of all CSN sales in independent stores. In-store trials have shown that implementing 25 to Thrive guidance can increase category sales by up to 15%.
Three key pillars
To drive growth, KP Snacks advises retailers to focus on three key pillars: Right range, stocking essential core best-sellers to satisfy different shopper missions from Food-to-Go to Big Night In; Right layout, organising the fixture with a clear, easy-to-follow planogram; and Right NPD, bringing excitement to shelves by stocking new products alongside core favourites.
