Knitsley Farm Shop in County Durham has unveiled a steak pie topped with a leek and Cheddar dumpling, priced at £4.25. The farm shop, near Consett, is also bringing back its cheeseburger pie after previous success.
Unique pie varieties on sale
The cheeseburger pie is a shortcrust pastry containing a mix of onion, cheese and bechamel sauce. The steak pie features Aberdeen Angus steak in a rich gravy, finished with a fluffy dumpling topping.
In a Facebook post with images of the savouries, the farm shop asked: "Does a pie table get much better than this?!" One response admitted: "Looks delicious."
Other savouries and sweet option
Also available are Cumberland and black pepper sausage rolls, plus chive and cheese pasties. The Facebook post adds that a sweet option is on offer this week: a summer fruit pie.
Knitsley Farm Shop, known for its cafe breakfasts, will celebrate its 18-year anniversary in November. It has a loyal following for its on-site butchery and shop.
Opening hours and cafe menu
Its Granary Cafe serves soup, main meals and a scone of the week, alongside breakfasts. There is also a bakery making bread and cakes. The shop is open 9am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
