Kitri, the fashion label known for its playful prints, fresh silhouettes, and quality mid-range pieces, has announced its closure after less than a decade in business. Despite building a loyal following, the brand could not withstand rising operational costs and changing consumer habits. In an Instagram post, founder Haeni Kim shared, "This decision has not come easily. We explored every possible avenue, but ultimately this felt like the only responsible path forward."
Why Kitri Is Closing
The fashion industry has faced a challenging landscape in 2025, with over 11,000 independent shops closing in the UK alone. Even major chains like Claire's have ceased trading. Although Kitri was stocked at retailers such as M&S and Liberty, the volatile market proved too difficult to navigate. Kim expressed gratitude for the journey, noting that the brand grew from a small independent label into a global favourite worn and loved by women worldwide.
My Personal Favourites from Kitri
As a longtime fan, I have relied on Kitri for everything from wedding guest dresses to statement outerwear and knitwear. The brand, founded in 2017 by South Korea-born Haeni Kim, was born out of her desire for affordable hero pieces. Whether it is a feather-adorned party frock or a polka dot halter neck, Kitri's occasion wear has been a staple in my wardrobe. I have worn a blue swing dress to a wedding in Lisbon and a black halter neck dress to numerous events, always impressed by the quality and timeless appeal.
The latest collection is one of my favourites, featuring linen capris with a ruffled hem, a matching lace trim cami top, and a drop waist yellow maxi dress perfect for a Tuscany wedding. Now, as the brand closes its doors, Kitri has launched a clearance sale with up to 70 per cent off. Below are my top picks from the final collection. Act fast, as sizes are limited.
