Jersey Mike's Subs, the American submarine sandwich chain and Subway's biggest rival in the US, has confirmed the locations of its first four UK branches, all in central London.
The chain, which started on the Jersey Shore and has expanded over the last 70 years to around 3,300 branches across America, is the closest competitor to Subway in the sub-sandwich market. Subway still dominates with some 20,000 locations in the US and tens of thousands more internationally.
First UK Store Set for November
Having previously only operated in North America, Jersey Mike's announced earlier this month that it will open its first-ever UK restaurant on Argyll Street in London's West End, with the opening set for November.
The company has now revealed the next three London sites: New Oxford Street near Tottenham Court Road, Baker Street, and Cranbourn Street in the Covent Garden and Leicester Square area. Exact opening dates for each restaurant, along with further details on the UK menu and launch activity, will be announced in the coming weeks.
CEO Outlines Ambitious Plans
Satnam Leihal, CEO of Jersey Mike's UK & Ireland, said: “We’re incredibly excited to finally reveal the first four locations that will introduce Jersey Mike’s to the UK. We wanted to start right in the heart of London, and these sites put us in four brilliant, high-footfall locations across the capital.”
He added: “Argyll Street will be the first opportunity for people here to experience what has made Jersey Mike’s such a loved brand in the US, but it’s only the beginning. We have ambitious plans for the UK and Ireland and can’t wait to start welcoming our first customers through the doors this November.”
Signature 'Juice' and Fresh Ingredients
The company said the meats and cheeses used in its subs are sliced fresh to order, with vegetables prepared fresh and bread baked throughout the day. A standout feature is the chain's famous addition "the juice," described as a combination of red wine vinegar and oil blend that is splashed over the sandwich before serving.
This year, Jersey Mike's Subs surpassed Chick-fil-A to become America's highest-rated fast-food chain for customer satisfaction in the 2026 American Customer Satisfaction Index.
