Iolla teases Aberdeen showroom opening with sneak peek

Iolla, the affordable eyewear brand, will open its first showroom in the North of Scotland in Aberdeen this weekend, with shoppers given a preview of what to expect.

The Glasgow-founded company is taking over the vacant 1-5 George Street Unit on Schoolhill, next to Nail Lab and just outside the Bon Accord Centre. The premises have been empty since Desert Rugs, the city's only luxury Persian rug store, closed permanently on July 18 due to "supply chain issues" caused by the ongoing conflict in Iran.

Social media tease

The brand shared a reel on Instagram captioned "Aberdeen loading", showing refurbishments underway, with new fixtures and fittings such as shelving units and counter tops being installed. The exterior of the unit was decorated in Iolla's signature orange colourway, featuring a picture of glasses designs and a mounted pair of binoculars encouraging shoppers to look inside.

The opening on Saturday, August 29, will mark Iolla's first branch in Aberdeen and its eighth showroom overall. Founded in 2015, the company began in Glasgow, first opening in Finnieston, then a second branch on West George Street, before expanding to Edinburgh with two showrooms at the St. James Quarter and Bruntsfield Place. It has since opened branches in London, Cambridge, and Manchester.

Affordable eyewear

Iolla boasts a perfect five-star rating on Trust Pilot and was founded on the concept that eyewear should be affordable, with prices starting from £85. The brand offers over 100 different designs, all made in Scotland.

To build excitement, Iolla captioned its reel: "one week to go Aberdeen…save the date! We can’t wait to officially welcome you through the doors of our new showroom on Saturday 29th August."

The announcement has generated enthusiasm among shoppers, with comments including "Yas!! Now I don’t need to wait for Glasgow visits to get my glasses," "HUGE news, literally my favourite glasses brand," and "Absolutely thrilled that you will now be in Aberdeen! Welcome @iolla." Another wrote "My day has been made," while others added "Best news!!" and "The post we’ve been waiting for…"
