IKEA Warrington is recruiting bouncers ahead of a one-night-only event. On Thursday, September 24, a number of IKEA restaurants will host "a full-blown meatball night out" including full VIP treatment, complete with velvet ropes, entry stamps, wristbands and a photo backdrop.
Meatball-filled festivities with VIP treatment
Bouncers will be stationed at the door to dish out wristbands for "meatball-filled festivities" which will include bottomless meatballs for all attendees. IKEA Family members can enjoy an all-you-can-eat meatball buffet for £5 for adults - or £1 for kids.
The bottomless options include the classic Swedish meatball served with mash or chips, peas, cream sauce and lingonberry jam. Also on offer is IKEA’s chicken meatballs, plant balls, or crunchy falafel balls with all the iconic trimmings – plus soft drinks, tea or filter coffee.
Ticket prices and previous store closure
Those without the IKEA Family passes can purchase a ticket for £6.95 for adults and £2.95 for kids. Last year, IKEA closed its Aintree Plan and Order Point store in Liverpool.
Opened in December 2022 at the Aintree Racecourse Retail Park, this outlet was the pioneer 'test and trial format' in the UK, designed to provide customers with home furnishing advice, focusing on kitchen and bedroom planning.
Reasons behind the Aintree closure
IKEA opted to cease operations at the store, declaring the shutdown was "a result of valuable learnings which will take the conceptual format in a direction to better suit the needs of UK customers."
An IKEA representative said: "There has been an increased demand for Click and Collect services, a desire to shop a smaller selection of home furnishing accessories, as well as the ability to return goods to physical IKEA units, something which, owing to the space available, the current location is unable to offer.
"In response to customer needs, upcoming Plan and Order Point locations, including those in Dundee, Hull, and York, will incorporate these services. IKEA also remains committed to trialling new formats including its upcoming small stores."
The Aintree Plan and Order location was permanently closed on June 16, 2025. IKEA Stockport, situated in Merseyway Shopping Centre closed its doors on the same day.
