Hoverboard Black Friday sale saves up to £140

Hoverboard has launched its biggest ever Black Friday sale, offering up to 40% off its flagship electric balance boards and saving parents up to £140 on select models throughout November.

The sale includes the 6.5” Hoverboard Air, now £189.99 (was £304.99-£314.99), saving up to £125. The Air is available in black, pink, red and purple, with a free carry bag included with each model.

How the Hoverboard Air works

The two-wheeled balance boards are ridden without handlebars and operate similarly to a Segway. The sleek 6.5” wheels drive forward when the user leans forward and to the side when the user leans sideways.

The Air can travel up to 12km/h (roughly 7.5mph) and features built-in Bluetooth speakers for listening to music while riding. It also has LED lighting that changes colour during use. Powered by Samsung, the board delivers up to two hours of use per charge. The boards cannot be ridden on public roads and are intended for private areas such as the home or garden.

Other models in the sale

The 10” Hoverboard Roller is also discounted to £249.99 (was £369.49), saving £119.50. It offers similar features to the Air, with a top speed of 12km/h and two-hour battery life, but with larger 10” air-filled multi-terrain tyres for off-road use. The Roller comes in designs such as blue camo, blue galaxy and hip-hop.

The 8.5” Hoverboard Ranger is up to £140 off at £249.99 (was £374.99-£384.99), with wide 8.5” multi-terrain wheels and eight designs including cosmic, pink camo and ranger flame.

Other balance boards on the market include the Hover-1 Rival Electric Hoverboard at £150 from Argos, with 6.5” solid wheels and a top speed of up to 7mph under ideal conditions. At Amazon, the Mega Motion Hoverboard Go Kart is £179.99 (was £199.99) and includes an attachment to convert it from a balance board to a go-kart. Hoverboard's Air, Roller and Ranger models are also available with go-kart add-ons.

Shopper reviews

The Hoverboard models have been rated highly by shoppers, with many parents and grandparents leaving positive reviews online. Of the Hoverboard Air, one said: “My kids love it and ride everywhere, it’s definitely worth the money and kept them busy the whole afternoon.”

Another said: “My daughter loves this. In fact, it was the hit for all the kids during Christmas.” The same reviewer noted a minor downside: “Speaker is as expected but I wish there was a protected Bluetooth connection so not everyone could share their music to it.”

One parent said of the Hoverboard Roller: “My son really enjoys using the Hoverboard. The seat design is so cool and is of much higher quality. The one his friend had seems like a cheaper design seat and doesn’t look as good. The large wheels allow him to ride comfortably in the park, would recommend.”

Of the Hoverboard Ranger, one reviewer said: “I bought this for my eight-year-old grandson, absolutely perfect for him. He loves it as he can whiz around the park quite fast. Best purchase ever.”
