Home Bargains is opening a new £6 million store in Huyton this weekend, creating dozens of jobs in the area. The 21,528 sq. ft outlet at Sovereign Industrial Park on Wilson Road will open its doors to shoppers at 8am on Saturday, November 7 2026.
The site, named 'Huyton 2', will operate alongside the retailer's existing location on Derby Road in Huyton town centre. Alongside standard ranges of homeware, health and beauty essentials, and groceries, shoppers will have access to an on-site bakery, a café, and a dedicated garden centre. Home Bargains said the store opening has created 70 jobs.
Store Manager Welcomes New Branch
Jack Downes, store manager for the new branch, said: "With the strong family values and proud Liverpool heritage of TJ Morris at the heart of everything we do, it’s a privilege to bring our store to such a fantastic community.

Planning History and Community Impact
An application for the new site was first submitted by Davos Property Developments (DPD), a subsidiary of Liverpool-based T.J. Morris Limited, in November 2023. A report compiled by Knowsley Council's planning team at the time described "significant benefits" arising from the development.
The report noted: "Local labour, skills and training opportunities [would be provided] through the construction and operational phase and [have] economic benefits, including job creation, in an area with high unemployment rates among working residents and a lower economic activity rate."
Company Background and Expansion Plans
Founded 50 years ago in Old Swan, Liverpool, parent company TJ Morris has grown from a single shop into one of Britain’s largest privately owned retailers. The company currently employs over 29,000 people across more than 650 branches.
The retailer has expressed long-term plans to scale the brand to 800 stores nationwide. The Home Bargains 'Huyton 2' store can be found at Sovereign Industrial Park, Wilson Road, Huyton, L36 6AD.
