A shopper has claimed that Ikea is 'overpriced' after discovering a 'spacious' storage unit for under £40 at Home Bargains, which she says rivals the Swedish retailer. Posting on TikTok under the username @Sophmumof2, Sophie shared her find with thousands of followers, praising the value for money.
Sophie explained that she needed extra storage after Christmas but was put off by the cost of an Ikea Trofast unit, which would have set her back around £76 including boxes and shipping. Instead, she purchased The Kids Edit 6 Drawer Toy Storage Unit from Home Bargains for just £39.99, with the boxes included.
Despite having to assemble the unit herself, Sophie was impressed with the ease of construction. 'It took me about 53 minutes, and it just looks super cute,' she said. 'I would say all in all, these are pretty much such a similar deal, and now we have so much more storage for all the kids' toys.'
The unit, which measures W96 x D38.5 x H53cm, features six pull-out tubs designed for children to access easily. Home Bargains describes it as 'bright and friendly' and ideal for keeping playrooms clutter-free. Although currently out of stock online, shoppers can sign up for notifications or check local stores.
Sophie's video has garnered over 280,000 views, with many viewers expressing interest. One commented: '£39.99, that’s amazing! Off to Home B's I go tomorrow.' Another said: 'So glad to have seen this today! Went down and grabbed one! Chuffed.'
