Shoppers are praising a £20 heated body warmer from Home Bargains as a 'game changer' for braving the bitter January weather. The sleeveless jacket, which charges via USB, can be worn under a coat to provide direct warmth, making it ideal for dog walks, school drop-offs, and early shifts.
A staff member from the Bishop Auckland branch shared a photo of the item in the Home Bargains Appreciation Society Facebook group, writing: 'You saw it here first'. The jacket is currently only available in stores, not online, so customers must visit their nearest branch to purchase one.
Many shoppers have commented on the ingenuity of the design. One fan said: 'Perfect for walking dogs.' Another added: 'Need one of these for school drop off.' A third claimed it would be ideal for those working 'early shifts'. One shopper described wearing it as a 'game changer' in winter weather.
However, some buyers noted that a battery pack may not be included with the jacket. One shopper explained: 'They are equipped with a battery pack designed to fit within an interior pocket, which I consider to be an ingenious idea.' But others countered: 'They don’t usually sell with a battery pack, most people buy a power pack.' Another said: 'You have to buy a power bank for them. I got my husband that one and the jacket, and he loves them.'
In other Home Bargains news, the discount retailer has announced plans to expand to more towns and cities by 2026, with 18 new shops already in the pipeline. The company aims to eventually operate between 800 and 1,000 outlets across the UK.
