Home Bargains £17 Laundry Basket Looks Like £80 John Lewis Option
Home Bargains £17 Laundry Basket Like £80 John Lewis

Home Bargains customers have been given another chance to snap up a sold-out laundry basket that resembles a premium brand worth more than £100. The budget-friendly alternative, priced at only £16.99, is currently available online while stocks last.

As of June 11, customers can choose between the light grey and charcoal options of the Utility Double Laundry Basket. The neutral beige version remains out of stock, though shoppers can register for an email notification when fresh supplies arrive.

Home Bargains operates separate supply chains for its online store and physical retail locations. While many popular items appear in both, their in-store inventory heavily depends on local warehouses, meaning stores may not have any of these baskets available for in-person shoppers.

Describing the basket online, Home Bargains said: "Keep laundry day neat, tidy and totally stress-free with the Utility Double Laundry Basket, designed to make sorting simple and storage stylish. With two 50L compartments, you can easily separate lights and darks (or towels and clothing). The portable inner bags with handles mean you can lift, carry and empty each load with ease. The basket is lightweight and foldable, making it perfect for compact spaces or easy storage when not in use, and you can choose from three colours to match your home perfectly."

Comparison to Premium Brands

It has previously been compared to the two-compartment laundry basket from Joseph Joseph. The upmarket homeware retailer is offering a comparable cloth hamper for £115 on its website, with the same item available for a little less at John Lewis from £80, depending on the colour selected, reports the Mirror.

Both hampers feature a fabric exterior and conveniently detachable sections. Beyond a substantial saving of nearly £100, Home Bargains customers also benefit from an additional 10L of storage across the two compartments with the Utility Double Laundry Basket, in contrast to the 90L capacity of Joseph Joseph's offering.

Shopper Reactions

When it initially launched in February, members of the Sale Seekers group on Facebook wrote: "Finally got my hands on this. Only £16.99 in Home Bargains [and] it's so similar to a more expensive brand!" Another user said: "Love it. I was looking at [something similar], but it was over £100. No thanks, this one is great!" A third put: "Can't tell the difference between this and the more expensive one. It's a no-brainer!" And one more wrote: "I have the beige one, it's the best."

Home Bargains has an extensive collection of homeware, both in stores and online. The discount retailer has built a devoted following across the UK with its wide selection of budget-friendly homeware products that often rival those sold elsewhere at considerably higher prices. One of those deals includes a new £50 chair that looks 'effortlessly chic' and costs a fraction of what similar items at Next, Argos, and B&Q do.
