Hollands Country Clothing has opened its first physical store at Lowe's Farm Shop in Byley, Cheshire. The new boutique, which opened in the past few weeks, offers a range of country classics from wax jackets to Dubarry boots.
A family business with deep roots
Hollands, based in Disley near Stockport, was created by a Cheshire farming family. The Holland family started by selling wellies at country fairs and local markets. After launching a website as a result of the 2001 foot and mouth crisis, they became early online adopters and are now one of the UK's leading online retailers of country clothing with a turnover of £10 million.
The new store is their first physical outlet where customers can try and buy their ranges. It sits on the busy site of Lowe's Farm Shop, a destination with its own long farming history.
Six generations of farming
The Lowe family have been growing vegetables on the same Cheshire land for six generations. David and Doreen Lowe were given the original 30-acre farm as a wedding present in 1958, and it has since grown to more than 500 acres. What began with market stalls at Middlewich and Crewe grew into a proper farm shop in 2001.
Today the site is home to an award-winning butcher and eleven independent Cheshire businesses, including a garden centre, Pilates studio, and pottery studio. The farm shop is run by three generations of the Lowe family: Graham Lowe, his wife Tracy, and their sons Tom and Sam.
Visitor praise and new additions
The farm shop has a string of five-star reviews on Google. Grace Lam wrote: "Absolutely brilliant local farm shop! The meat is always fresh, high quality. Dan the butcher is super friendly!" John Goodwin added: "Very good produce with pleasant helpful staff. Proper farm shop with their own produce. not to be confused with a shop on a farm."
The site also includes the Ginger & Pickles cafe, which serves an all-day menu of freshly-cooked breakfasts, signature quiches, and daily bakes. The new Hollands boutique features a curated edit of bestselling brands, and customers can order anything from the full online range in store. A specially commissioned mural tells the Hollands' story in pictures.

Lowe's Farm Shop is on Moss Lane, Byley, near Middlewich, with the postcode CW10 9NG for satnav. It is open every day from 9am to 5pm, and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.
