High Street Crisis: 150 Shops to Close as Banks Shutter

A growing number of well-known high street brands have announced plans to close stores across the UK, placing hundreds of jobs at risk. These include major banks, fashion retailer Phase Eight, and charity British Heart Foundation.

Phase Eight and TFG Group Closures

TFG, the parent company of Phase Eight, may close up to 400 branches. It has already confirmed intentions to shut more than 100 underperforming stores as part of a major restructuring. The label has closed its St Andrews branch, following earlier closures in Dundee and Perth.

British Heart Foundation to Close 150 Shops

The British Heart Foundation has revealed plans to close 150 of its shops. The first 90 premises are expected to close permanently by March 2027, with the remainder shutting by March 2028. Executives stated the charity faces an "exceptionally challenging trading environment" but pledged to continue its "ground-breaking research" and online sales, including through its eBay page.
