Shoppers are discovering that luxury London department store Harrods offers a meal deal, but at £15 it costs more than three times as much as Tesco's £4.25 deal and more than double M&S's £6.99 option.
Foodie TikToker Claudia Greiner visited Harrods to try what she called the 'UK's most expensive meal deal.' The offer, dubbed the 'Harrods Trio,' includes a sandwich, a sweet treat, and a drink, and is available in the store's Food Hall, which sits alongside the Chocolate Hall, wine and spirits selection, and Roastery & Bake Hall.
What's in the Harrods Trio?
Drinks include freshly made juices, bubble teas, and smoothies — worth choosing in the Trio given smoothies retail for £7 individually. Fancy canned options include premium sodas from Jamu, functional drinks brand Trip, and zero-sugar vitamin water Activit. Even the water is Fiji and Voss.
Cake slices are individually packaged, with options including tiramisu, red velvet, chocolate fudge cake, and pistachio cake slice. Sandwich choices include a smoked salmon bagel, egg sando, ham and cheddar baguette, coronation chicken sandwich, and chicken and avocado baguette.
TikToker's verdict
Claudia opted for a Tropical Glow juice (£7), a Korean fried chicken wrap (£7), and a chocolate cake slice (£5.50), bringing her total to £19.50 — saving her £4.50 compared to buying items separately.
After tasting her haul, Claudia said she'd be going back to Harrods for lunch again: 'It's all good quality, proper food, fresh and homemade. I just think I personally picked the wrong things. The UK's most expensive meal deal, but well, well worth it.'
Commenters on her video were largely positive. 'That looks banging,' wrote one. 'I don't think that's expensive. I mean, quality is great, so very fairly priced. Love it!' added another. 'I feel like that's not actually a bad price! That food all looks so nice too!'
Not everyone was convinced, though: '£15 for a sandwich and a drink. People need to get a grip.'
