Govanhill, located on Glasgow's south side, has been recognised by Time Out as one of the planet's most trendy neighbourhoods, placing in the top five. The area is known for being multicultural, lively, and offering countless things to do, with numerous spots to eat and drink.
The neighbourhood is famous for being amongst Scotland's most diverse communities. Strolling through its streets, that influence is immediately apparent, with coffee shops, bakeries, takeaways, and gift shops from every corner of the globe.
A visit to Zennor
Victoria Road serves as Govanhill's main street, bustling with people clutching coffees, walking dogs, meeting friends, or making their way towards Queen's Park at the street's far end. Options include a flat white from a Transylvanian coffee shop and authentic Turkish Börek from Pistachio.
Zennor, which launched on the corner of Langside Road and Dixon Avenue last year, is considered a top spot. The interior features Scandi-inspired light wood, stainless steel furnishings, paper lanterns, and the scent of freshly ground coffee.
The price and verdict
With oat milk, the mocha came to £4.60. The dark chocolate and sea salt cookie was described as utter bliss. The staff were noted as warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft.
Directly opposite Zennor sits the Rose Reilly pub, named after the iconic footballer, offering a range of drinks and outdoor seating. For more filling options, Pakistani Street Food comes recommended for a samosa, Bar Vini for pasta, and Errol's Hot Pizza for pizza.
