Go Local 2026: Membership Criteria and Support

Parfetts' Go Local symbol group has outlined its membership criteria and retailer support package for 2026, highlighting no joining fee, a 2% compliance reward and flexible store formats.

Membership Criteria and Costs

Retailers are expected to engage with promotions, maintain strong availability and invest in store standards. The business offers flexible symbol model options across Go Local, Go Local Extra, The Local, Shop & Go and the new Local 4U format, allowing retailers to choose a model suited to their store size, location, and shopper mission.

There is no joining fee to become a Go Local symbol member. Symbol installation and store development support are tailored to individual budgets and store formats. Credit terms are available subject to approval, and Parfetts supports profitability through free delivery and a straightforward 2% compliance reward structure.

Contract Terms and Ordering

The minimum contract term for symbol retailers is five years. Go Local retailers may benefit from a trading area agreement that typically offers exclusivity within a radius of 0.5 to one mile, depending on local market conditions and store density. Where applicable, retailers are required to meet a minimum delivery order value of £750.

Retailers can order through Parfetts' delivered wholesale service or by shopping directly at one of the nine depots nationwide. Parfetts' own-brand range now exceeds 250 lines and continues to expand across key everyday categories. Ordering systems now integrate chilled and frozen products into a single, simplified process.

Marketing and Promotions

Parfetts invests in consumer marketing, in-store POS and high-profile promotional activity across its symbol estate. Promotions are supported through the Go for Growth programme, which integrates supplier investment, category insight and promotional planning to improve execution and shopper engagement at store level. Retailers also benefit from locally relevant promotional support designed to drive footfall, loyalty, and basket spend.

Parfetts operates a strong promotional programme focused on value, simplicity, and margin protection. Retailers benefit from regular promotional cycles across core grocery, impulse, food-to-go, chilled and alcohol categories, supported by supplier investment and clear in-store POS. The business also continues to invest heavily in PMPs and core value lines to maintain competitive shopper pricing. Parfetts runs daily, weekly, and three-weekly promotions, as well as a number of trade weeks throughout the year, supporting key events.

Category Management and Future Plans

Go for Growth sits at the centre of Parfetts' category management support. The platform uses EPoS data, supplier insight, AI-driven analysis and local market trends to help retailers make better decisions on ranging, merchandising, promotions, and space allocation. Retailers receive practical guidance on best-selling products, category priorities and store standards.

Recent investment has focused heavily on Go for Growth, which now combines category advice, planograms, supplier investment, promotions, AI-powered shelf analysis, and ordering tools in one integrated platform. Parfetts has also expanded its delivered network nationally, strengthened its retail development advisor team and invested in digital infrastructure to simplify store operations. Over the next year, Go for Growth will become even more embedded across the estate, with further AI capability, improved supplier collaboration, and stronger integration between ordering, ranging, and promotions.

Go Local offers independent retailers a low-cost, flexible route to growth backed by one of the UK's leading wholesalers. Retailers benefit from free delivery, a 2% compliance reward, strong promotions, growing own-brand ranges, EPoS support, consumer marketing and tailored operational advice. Go for Growth gives retailers access to data-led ranging, AI-powered analysis, supplier insight, and category management tools that help improve sales, simplify decision-making, and protect margin. Combined with flexible symbol formats and long-term investment in independent retail, the model is designed to help retailers compete more effectively in an increasingly demanding market.

EPoS support is provided as part of the symbol package. The average store size is 1,500sq ft, and the number of UK retail members is more than 1,950. The UK symbol formats are Go Local, Go Local Extra, The Local, and Shop & Go.

Retailer Muresh Seevaratnam, owner of a Shop & Go in Gosport, Hampshire, said: "The Shop & Go format is ideal for a petrol filling station where customers want speed, choice and value. We have a wide variety of products, and the response has been really encouraging. The food-to-go range has been particularly popular, along with complete meal solutions such as Praveen Kumar Indian meals. Parfetts has a strong reputation for backing its retailers and treating each business individually, and I really value the freedom that provides me with, after 25 years in the retail sector. That support, combined with a busy promotional programme, gives me confidence as I continue to look for new sites."
