Giffgaff Offers Unlimited SIM at 42p a Day, Undercutting Rivals
Giffgaff Unlimited SIM at 42p a Day Beats Rivals

Consumers seeking to minimize their monthly mobile expenses may find a compelling option in a new offer from Giffgaff. The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), which operates on O2's network, is promoting an unlimited data plan with unlimited calls and texts for just £14 per month.

This translates to approximately 42p per day. The price is available to customers who commit to an 18-month contract, totaling £252 over the period — a saving of £198 compared to the standard £25 monthly rate.

Comparison with Major Networks

Giffgaff's offer significantly undercuts larger competitors. EE charges at least £26 per month for its unlimited SIM on a 24-month contract, and O2 offers a similar plan at £23.99 per month over 24 months. Both EE and O2 also apply annual price increases, whereas Giffgaff guarantees no mid-contract rises.

"With a summer of sport, outdoor activities and holidays ahead, it's only fair our members get as much access and connectivity as possible," said Kate Dohaney, CEO of Giffgaff. "We stuck to our commitment of no mid-contract price rises, so our members know exactly what they're paying each month."

Considerations and Alternatives

The plan requires an 18-month commitment, which is shorter than the typical 24-month contracts from major networks but still a binding agreement. For those prioritizing flexibility, rival MVNO Smarty offers unlimited data, minutes, and texts for £20 per month on a rolling monthly contract with no long-term commitment.

Subscribers to the Giffgaff deal enjoy unlimited 5G data within the UK and 5GB of free EU roaming data each month. The promotional pricing is valid until October 2, 2026, giving shoppers until that date to sign up.
