A new business has enjoyed a superb response from the Southport community after opening in the town centre. Pink String & Ceiling Wax launched its debut physical store on Union Street on June 6, having found its feet online a mere 18 months ago.
From Online to High Street
Pink String & Ceiling Wax, which shares a pun name with the 1945 drama film, offers accessories, gifts and home decorations. The range includes paints and wallpapers, clocks, mirrors and wall art, children’s interiors, soft furnishings and much more. In the rear of the shop is a space that will soon be transformed to deliver a series of workshops allowing customers to create their own accessories.
The shop's founder, Helen Chadwick, prides herself on offering "a range with a twist" that isn't always found on the high streets. The response so far for the company, both online and after the physical store's debut, has left her "overwhelmed".
Community Support Overwhelming
Helen said: "The support, kind words, purchases, and encouragement have meant absolutely everything to us. Seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new customers has made our first day so special. Opening our doors has been a dream come true, and the warm welcome we've received from the community has been overwhelming. We are truly grateful to each and every one of you for supporting our little shop. Thank you for being part of our journey. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon."
Discussing how the store came to fruition, she added: "We started Pink String & Ceiling Wax online 18 months ago, and it has been very popular. We initially hoped to open a shop on Lord Street and looked at a number of units. When this unit on Union Street became available, it was a fantastic opportunity for us. We have connected with everyone, there’s a great community here and some brilliant businesses."
Future Plans and Community Ethos
Pink String & Ceiling Wax is looking forward to kickstarting its workshops and expanding the Christmas range closer to the season. Her business also has a strong community ethos, with a particular focus on supporting young people with opportunities. Helen said: "We stock a fabulous range of unique Christmas gifts, which will be expanding as we get closer to the festive season. We offer gifts and home decor which is beautiful with stock that is updated constantly. No two visits to our shop will ever be the same. We have a great room to the rear of our shop where we'll be offering a variety of workshops soon such as Christmas wreath making, upcycling furniture, and lots more."
