Extractor fan grease vanishes in 5 minutes with £1 spray

A cleaning enthusiast has shared how she removed a year's worth of grease from her extractor fan and filters in just five minutes using Elbow Grease spray, a product available from £1.20 at Asda.

Charlotte Kennedy took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook page to share her results, describing them as "unbelievable". She wrote: "Just started to clean my extractor fan as I was bored I had to share as I love how well this has cleansed off. I used Elbow Grease for the first time with kitchen roll and I can't explain how happy I am!"

How the cleaning method works

Charlotte revealed that she sprayed her extractor fan and filters with the Elbow Grease spray, leaving it to work for five minutes before wiping everything away with kitchen towels. She added: "It has cleaned the year's worth of grease right off and given a shiny finish! It's unbelievable! Defo recommend Elbow Grease it's a kitchen essential for me! No going back."

Elbow Grease is available in stores such as Robert Dyas for £3.09, from Amazon for £2.30, or at Asda for £1.20.

Why cooker hood filters matter

Grease stains not only blemish kitchen surfaces, but many homeowners fail to appreciate that they can seriously hamper the performance of household appliances. Indispensable to cooker hoods are their filters — the fine mesh grates visible beneath the cooker hood — whose purpose is to draw up smoke and vapour produced during cooking. Neglecting these crucial cooker hood filters risks undermining the effectiveness of the extractor fan.

Other cleaning enthusiasts impressed

Fellow cleaning enthusiasts in the comments section were equally impressed with the product. Alice Connor said: "It's the best. It works like magic on grease."

Kayleigh Alice commented: "I sprayed Elbow Grease degreaser over mine and left for about five minutes then just used a sponge and they came up beautifully. Put mine in the dishwasher last time and whilst they came up very clean they are now tarnished."

Stephanie Berry said: "Elbow Grease is insane. I spray it on overnight for better results then I wash them out with hot water comes right out and looks brand new." Cassa Port wrote: "I don't use anything but that when cleaning in my kitchen."
