Initially, United planned to finalise the move in early July. But with Ederson now set to represent Brazil at the World Cup in North America, the completion date is likely to be postponed. While it is not impossible for the transfer to be wrapped up during the tournament, it would require approval from both the player and the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The more probable scenario is that Ederson will undergo a medical and complete the necessary paperwork once Brazil's World Cup campaign concludes, after which he will be granted a summer break before joining United.
Impact on Pre-Season Plans
United had anticipated Ederson being available for a full pre-season at Carrington. However, due to his international commitments, he will now receive time off following the World Cup. The club is nevertheless pleased to have the deal agreed, as strong performances in North America could have attracted other suitors, especially since Ederson was entering the final year of his Atalanta contract.
