Shoppers across England and Wales are advised to plan ahead this Easter weekend as major supermarkets alter their opening hours. While Scotland is exempt, larger stores in England and Wales must close on Easter Sunday, and many will operate reduced hours on Good Friday and Easter Monday (April 6).
On Easter Monday, most superstores will open with reduced hours, typically closing at 6pm. Tesco Extra on Park Road, Liverpool, will be open from 8am to 6pm, while most Tesco Express stores will operate as usual. Asda's larger stores will open from 8am to 10pm, but customers are urged to check individual store times using the store locator.
Sainsbury's supermarkets will be open from 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday, with most convenience stores running as usual from 7am to 11pm. Morrisons shops will close earlier than usual at 8pm, while most Morrisons Daily stores will maintain regular hours over the long weekend.
Aldi stores will be open from 8am to 8pm on Easter Monday. M&S stores will also be open but with altered hours; for example, the Liverpool ONE store will open at 9am but close at 6pm. Customers are advised to check individual store details before heading out.
