The Dyson V15 Detect Absolute Cordless Vacuum Cleaner is available for £479 at Currys, down from £649, undercutting the £499 sale price currently offered on Dyson's own website, where it is reduced from £699.99. The model is described as having 'more suction power to the floor than any other cordless vacuum'.
Currys says the cordless design, intelligent dust detection and de-tangling technology 'make every day cleaning quicker and less hassle', making it suited to busy families with children and pets.
Features and Performance
The vacuum uses strong suction to lift dust, dirt and debris from carpets, hard floors and upholstery, with cyclone technology maintaining performance with 'no loss of suction'. The Fluffy Optic cleaner head projects an angled beam of light to reveal fine dust on hard floors, while the Digital Motorbar cleaner head automatically adjusts suction to suit the floor type.
The device converts into a handheld vacuum and includes an Eco mode to maximise runtime for larger cleans, alongside Auto and Boost modes. Users can get up to 60 minutes of runtime from a single charge.
Shopper Reviews
Shoppers have rated the vacuum highly. One said: "Really pleased with this. The suction is strong, and it picked up more than I expected on carpets I thought were clean. The laser on the hard floors is a bit eye-opening, in a good way. It's light, easy to move around, and the battery lasts a full clean of the house. Emptying it is simple, too. Not cheap, but it feels worth it. Would recommend."
A second reviewer commented: "We bought this to replace our old Dyson and are extremely pleased with the performance of our new purchase. This item was reduced in the sale, so it was a very good value for money."
A third added: "This is my second cordless Dyson. I had a V6 Animal; the new one is the V15. The changes are so much better, but it does cost a lot more. It holds more and empties a lot easier with a slide, so you don't even get dust on your hands. The soft brush on hard floors is clever, and the green light does show the bits that need vacuuming."
One person disagreed, calling the vacuum 'overpriced'. On Dyson's site, another reviewer wrote: "Great product; however, the battery life is poor. It has great suction and is easy to use."
Alternatives from Other Brands
As an alternative, the Shark Classic Upright Vacuum NV603UK is priced at £129.99, down from £219.99, offering two floor modes for carpets and hard floors, a detachable main unit and two cleaning attachments.
Miele also has several vacuums on offer, including the Duoflex HX1 available for £249, down from £389, in three colours. It offers up to 55 minutes' run time on a single charge and is said to be 'as powerful as a conventional Miele vacuum cleaner'.
