Dutch Bros Launches School-Themed Seasonal Drinks to Evoke Childhood Memories
Dutch Bros Launches School-Themed Seasonal Drinks

Dutch Bros Coffee is inviting customers to revisit their playground days with a new trio of limited-edition seasonal drinks, launched on Thursday. The school-inspired beverages aim to evoke childhood nostalgia through flavours reminiscent of warm chocolate chip cookies and fruity slushies.

Nostalgic Flavours and Limited Availability

The three new drinks include Brown Butter Chocolate Chip, Fruit Punch With Sour Candy Straw, and Kool Blue. The Brown Butter Chocolate Chip features a brown butter chocolate chip drizzle and a brown sugar foam top sprinkled with chocolate chips. The Fruit Punch drink combines orange, cherry, and pineapple flavours, while Kool Blue mixes watermelon and blue raspberry with mango boba.

Prices vary by location, ranging from $4.75 to $7.95 at a Jacksonville, Florida outlet. As with many Dutch Bros releases, these drinks are available only while supplies last, continuing the chain's tradition of limited releases that highlight seasonal or nostalgic themes.

Dutch Bros' Growth and Market Position

Founded in Oregon in 1992, Dutch Bros has expanded to over 1,136 locations across the United States. Known for its drive-thru format and friendly employee vibe, the chain earned the top ranking among quick-service restaurants in Technomic's 2024 list of America's favourite restaurant chains.

In 2025, Dutch Bros was the third-largest coffee chain by sales in the Technomic Top 500 Chain Restaurant Report, trailing only Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts. The company generated $1.8 billion in sales in 2024, solidifying its place among the nation's leading coffee retailers.

Drive-Thru Coffee Trend and Digital Engagement

Dutch Bros is part of an emerging group of drive-thru quick-service coffee shops, including Scooter's Coffee and 7 Brew Drive Thru Coffee, both ranked in the top 125 restaurants by sales in Technomic's 2025 rankings. This growth aligns with consumer preferences, as 59% of coffee drinkers who purchased coffee in the past week used a drive-thru, according to a September 2025 analysis from the National Coffee Association.

Additionally, 36% of recent coffee buyers used an app for their purchase. Dutch Bros and Scooter's have capitalised on this trend with highly rated mobile apps, boasting 4.9-star ratings in the Apple App Store and 4.6- and 4.4-star ratings, respectively, in the Google Play store.

The launch of these school-themed drinks underscores Dutch Bros' strategy of leveraging nostalgia and limited availability to drive customer engagement and sales, while positioning itself competitively in the fast-growing drive-thru coffee market.
