Notch Americano, a restaurant and late bar on Elvet Bridge in Durham City, will close permanently on November 1. The owners cited ongoing pressures on the hospitality industry, including the cost of living, rising energy bills and increasing ingredient costs, as the reasons behind the decision.
Final service announced
In a statement and video posted online, owners Emilio Arceri and Dan Stafford confirmed the final service will take place on Sunday, November 1. They described the move as "a difficult decision" and said it was "time to close this chapter."
Thank you to customers
The pair thanked everyone who visited and supported the venue, adding that they had "made some incredible memories" there. They also hinted at future plans, saying, "as one door closes, another one opens" and expressing hope to share "some good news" soon.
The restaurant, which combined Italian and American style food, had built a loyal following. The owners have not yet announced what they will do next.
