Dunelm is offering customers a low-cost gadget designed to keep homes warm during winter without relying on central heating. The Igenix Halogen Heater, priced at £24, delivers "instant heat" at a maximum power of 800W and costs roughly 21p per hour to run continuously in the UK.
The product arrives as households face higher energy costs following the Ofgem price cap increase at the beginning of October 2026. An average household paying by Direct Debit has seen its annual energy bill rise by £60, from £1,663 to £1,723.

How Halogen Heaters Work
A halogen heater is an energy-efficient plug-in appliance that uses specialised halogen bulbs to blast instant, glowing warmth directly at the user rather than heating the whole room. It is considered a smart alternative to central heating for keeping bills down during a cold snap.
For health and safety reasons, it is advised never to leave a halogen heater turned on indefinitely.
