A Disney Store is set to open at Cheshire Oaks just in time for Christmas, with the new branch confirmed to welcome shoppers from 11am on Thursday, November 12.
The retailer, which first launched in 1987, will sell exclusive products featuring popular characters and franchises. The store will stock merchandise inspired by Disney, Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel, including exclusive ranges based on the company's major entertainment releases.
First standalone store outside London
The Cheshire Oaks branch will be the first standalone Disney Store outside London that is not located within a Selfridges concession. A Disney Store opened inside Selfridges Manchester Trafford on September 14.
The new arrival at Cheshire Oaks will give shoppers the opportunity to visit the retailer ahead of Christmas.
Liverpool's history with Disney
Liverpool previously had its own Disney Store in Clayton Square city centre, and the city was among the earliest locations in the UK to welcome one of the retailer's shops.
In February 1993, the Liverpool ECHO reported that the Clayton Square branch was one of Disney's newest and most successful shops. Christos Garkinos, then senior marketing manager for Europe, described it as a fantasy world for children and parents.
Garkinos also said Disney's magic appealed to people of all ages, with familiar characters and new additions keeping the brand alive. His comments highlighted the store's appeal to families and Disney fans.
Previous closures
In 2021, Disney announced plans to close almost all its stores across the UK and Ireland, with only its flagship locations in London and Dublin remaining. Liverpool ONE's Disney Store subsequently announced its closure after more than a decade at the shopping centre, with customers told it would shut on or before October 8.
