On a holiday trip to Flagstaff, Arizona, the boy finally found it. He ran over excitedly, shouting "Papa! Papa! I found the one!" The jacket was bought for $7.99 (£5.50).

Back at the accommodation

The pair carried on with their holiday after making the purchase. It was only back at their accommodation, as the boy inspected his new jacket in front of a mirror, that the real find came to light.

His father heard him shout again: "PAPA! PAPA! I found credit cards in my jacket!" On closer inspection, the "credit cards" turned out to be four Subway gift cards, each worth $10 (£7.50) and still loaded with money.

Gift cards worth $40

The gift cards gave the boy an extra $40 (£30) on top of the bargain jacket. The dad joked that his son was so delighted he offered to buy dinner for the whole family, adding: "Now I'm absolutely thrilled that means Papa haven't got to cook tonight."
