Cosy Club Bristol has reopened its doors after a major revamp. Loungers, the owner of the café-bar brand, employed designers and artists from across the UK to update the Grade II-listed building on 31 Corn Street.
Inside, the décor is inspired by the 20th century, the company said, blending “nostalgic glamour and subtle cinematic flair”, with terracotta and blush-pink fabrics, draped in a classical style across furniture and walls.
New layout and original features retained
The restaurant has retained its original features but has a newly zoned layout, with fixed seating for larger groups. At the heart of the room is a striking central furniture piece inspired by the building’s grand arched windows.
All artwork in the bar-restaurant has been newly commissioned, including two bespoke fabric wall hangings crafted by the Loungers specialist decorating team. The bar has also been redesigned to introduce more “scale, light and presence”, according to the company.
Manager on the redesign
Ryan McDonald, general manager of Cosy Club Bristol, said: “This building means a great deal to our guests and our team, so it was important that the refresh honoured its history while bringing in the warmth and personality of the new Cosy Club look. We’re incredibly proud of how the redesign enhances the original features and creates even more beautiful spaces for people to enjoy.
“Bristol has always been a special Cosy Club, and this next chapter feels like a very natural evolution. With Christmas celebrations just around the corner, the team is looking forward to welcoming guests for a season of proper festive cheer.”
Private hire spaces and Loungers growth
Two private hire spaces within the building have also been redesigned in the new look – the former Peacock Room, now called The Rothman Suite, and The Mezzanine.
Cosy Club is one of three brands operated by Loungers, which was founded in Bristol in 2002 by friends Alex Reilley, David Reid and Jake Bishop. The group now owns 277 Lounges, 36 Cosy Clubs and four Brightside outlets across the UK. In August, the company opened a new restaurant at The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, creating 30 jobs.
