Costco has brought back its giant tins of Quality Street for Christmas, with the 1.93kg tin priced at just over £19 including VAT, working out at around 96p per 100g.
The wholesaler's tin contains more than 200 of the Nestle chocolates, making it a cheaper option than other retailers. For comparison, a Quality Street Festival Tin from Morrisons costs £13 for 700g, which is £1.86 per 100g.
Amazon price comparison
The only other place where the giant tins were found was Amazon, where 1.93kg tins cost around £36 and 2kg tins £39.99.
Last Christmas, a closer look inside the giant tin found 211 chocolates altogether, of 11 different varieties, including favourites such as The Purple One, The Green Triangle and Orange Chocolate Crunch.
John Lewis drops Quality Street
The Costco tin comes after John Lewis dropped all Quality Street products this Christmas, including the pick 'n' mix stations, as it focuses on a 'fresh line-up of exclusive festive treats'.
This means that for the first time in years, shoppers will not be able to get personalised Quality Street tins or any of the brand's regular chocolate tins and boxes in its stores across the UK or online.
The Quality Street pick and mix stations had been a viral hit for the past eight years in selected John Lewis stores, including at the Trafford Centre and Cheadle Royal. Customers could personalise special edition tins of the brand, filling them with their own choice of flavours from an offering of up to 12 flavours.
The John Lewis website announced: "Quality Street will not be available in John Lewis this year, but we have lots of gifting options for you to explore."
New festive offerings
A John Lewis spokesperson said: "We're pulling out all the stops to make Christmas at John Lewis bigger, better, and more magical than ever, with a fresh line-up of exclusive festive treats and unforgettable gifts."
Nestle confirmed it also has new offerings this festive season and is teaming up with Monopoly. A spokesperson said: "We know how much shoppers enjoyed creating their own Quality Street tins at John Lewis, and it's been a brilliant part of Christmas for many years. This year, we're doing things a little differently, teaming up with another festive favourite, Monopoly, which will see us launch a special Quality Street x Monopoly tub over the coming weeks with thousands of prizes up for grabs!"
The Quality Street x Monopoly tub will be available at 'stores nationwide' from November 1.
