Cos Returns to Manchester with New Concession in Selfridges Exchange Square
Cos Returns to Manchester with Selfridges Concession

Cos, the Scandinavian fashion retailer owned by the H&M group, has quietly reopened in Manchester city centre with a new concession inside Selfridges Exchange Square, just over a year after closing its flagship store on St Ann's Square.

New Location Details

The concession opened on 26 June and is located upstairs at Selfridges, alongside other womenswear and lifestyle brands such as Skims, Adanola, Good American, and Sweaty Betty. A spokesperson for Cos told the Manchester Evening News: "We are pleased to confirm that our new concession store at Selfridges Exchange Square in Manchester opened on 26 June, offering pieces from our latest Womenswear collection." The concession stocks a range of dresses, shirts, blouses, trousers, jewellery, and Cos' latest summer collection.

Background of Closure

Cos originally took over the former GAP site on St Ann's Square in 2018, after GAP moved to a 10-year lease inside the Arndale. However, Cos closed its doors quietly last June with no prior indication of a return. The H&M group also owns Monki, which closed its concept store inside the Arndale in 2025, and & Other Stories, which operates a large corner site on St Ann's Square opposite Zara.

Changes on St Ann's Square

While Cos has found a new home at Exchange Square, its former location on St Ann's Square has seen significant changes. Earlier this year, Russell & Bromley, one of the city's longest-running shops on the square, closed after falling into administration. The luxury footwear brand launched a closing-down sale in February and shut its doors for good in April. Additionally, last year, luxury jeweller Mappin & Webb opened a new flagship store in one of Manchester's most distinctive historic buildings on the square. Spanning 700 square metres, it is the largest Mappin & Webb showroom in the UK, and its opening included a thorough restoration of the building's iconic pink and gold facade.
