A food reviewer has hailed a Co-op steak dinner for two, priced at just £4 for members, as the best value steak deal he has ever encountered in any UK supermarket. The deal, which includes two beef ranch steaks and a side of chips or sweet potato fries, was discovered by YouTube content creator Just Deano during a routine shopping trip.
The Discovery
Deano, a dad and food content creator, was browsing his local Co-op when he spotted the offer. He described it as a “remarkable deal” available exclusively to Co-op members, with membership costing a one-time fee of £1. The regular price is £5, but the offer is not always in stock. In a video shared with his subscribers, Deano said: “Is this the best steak deal in the UK supermarkets at the moment? Today's video is about this Co-op steak deal. Unbelievable price. I cannot believe how cheap this is for a meal for two. For two quid each. That is insane.”
Cooking and Taste Test
After purchasing the meal, Deano cooked it in an air fryer but advised viewers to pan-fry the steaks instead, as he overcooked his own. He noted that five minutes in the air fryer would have been better than ten for a medium-rare result. Despite this, he praised the steak as “juicy” and the sweet potato fries—a first for him—as “unbelievable” and “beautiful.” He added: “They look a bit like I wouldn’t like them, they look a little bit darker, not particularly appealing, but they are super super tasty. Unbelievable.”
Value and Reception
Deano rated the deal 10/10 for value and, had he cooked the steak correctly, 9.9/10 for taste. He said: “If only I hadn’t overdone the steak. But look, it is what it is. It’s still a decent piece of meat, and for £2, these two portions, you can’t go wrong, can you? Absolutely unbelievable value.” The video drew positive comments, with one viewer calling it a “cracking deal” and another saying it was “incredible value.” A third commenter noted: “I've got the Co-op membership card. It saves you money on your shopping so everyone should get one. As for the steak, you're right that the ranch cuts are best served medium-rare.” However, some shoppers reported not seeing the offer in their local stores.
