YouTube food reviewer Just Deano has uncovered what he calls the best value supermarket steak deal in the UK after browsing the aisles of his local Co-op. The content creator, known as Just Deano, was astonished by a steak dinner for two that cost him just £4, thanks to his Co-op membership.
Exclusive Membership Offer
The deal, which Deano described as a "remarkable deal" exclusive to Co-op members, includes two beef ranch steaks and a choice of either chips or sweet potato fries. The standard price for the offer is £5, but the membership discount brought it down to £4. The Co-op membership requires a one-off £1 sign-up fee with no recurring charges.
After purchasing the meal, Deano returned home to prepare it and informed his subscribers: "Is this the best steak deal in the UK supermarkets at the moment? Today's video is about this Co-op steak deal. Unbelievable price. I cannot believe how cheap this is for a meal for two. For two quid each. That is insane."
Cooking and Taste Test
Deano cooked his meal in an air fryer but later recommended viewers pan-fry their steaks to avoid overcooking. He noted that five minutes in the air fryer would have been better than the 10 minutes he used, as he preferred his steak medium-rare. Despite the overcooking, he found the meat still succulent.
Regarding the sweet potato fries, a first for Deano, he commented: "They are unbelievable. I tell you what, I'll definitely be getting them again. They are beautiful. Very different to an actual fry — I do like them. They look a bit like I wouldn't like them, they look a little bit darker, not particularly appealing, but they are super super tasty. Unbelievable."
Value and Taste Rating
Despite the cooking mishap, Deano was won over by the deal. "If only I hadn't overdone the steak," he said. "But look, it is what it is. It's still a decent piece of meat, and for £2, these two portions, you can't go wrong, can you? Absolutely unbelievable value."
He rated the value 10 out of 10 and the taste, if cooked correctly, a 9.9 out of 10, adding: "I do like them sweet potato fries. Who knew?"
