Co-Op launches viral dot cakes in UK with two flavours

Co-Op has become the first British supermarket to stock the viral dot cakes that have taken social media by storm, offering them in two flavours for £2.50 each.

The trend began when a New York City bakery went viral for its signature dessert, a colourful layered cake with a flat buttercream top covered in crunchy multi-coloured sprinkles known as 'dots'. Since then, the cakes have attracted millions of fans worldwide, with many attempting homemade versions.

TikToker puts Co-Op dot cakes to the test

TikToker Cissy Jones flagged that dot cakes had arrived in Co-Op, declaring: "You heard it here first." She tested them, scooping up every layer in a single spoonful, and said this was her "type of cake".

Shoppers described the cakes as looking "unreal" and said they "need" to try them, while others claimed they were "running" to their "local Co-Op" to get their hands on some. Cissy revealed the cakes are priced at £2.50 each, though she believes they are worth every penny.

Two flavours available

Staying faithful to the original flavours that social media users adore, Co-Op's Raspberry and Vanilla Dot Cake combines vanilla-flavour sponge, layered with raspberry jam and vanilla-flavour frosting, topped with multi-coloured sugar decorations.

For chocolate lovers, there is also a Chocolate and Salted Caramel Dot Cake, featuring a light and fluffy chocolate-flavour sponge, layered with salted caramel and chocolate-caramel flavour frosting, finished with white and milk chocolate crispy balls.

The dot cakes are now available on Co-Op shelves, giving UK shoppers the chance to try the viral treat without travelling to New York.
