Newcastle's Eldon Square shopping centre is preparing for the festive season as the Horror Store unit undergoes a major overhaul to reopen as the Christmas Store. The change comes just days after the Halloween retailer served its last customers for 2026 and shutters came down.
Seasonal Transformation in Eldon Square
The Horror Store had become the go-to destination for Halloween costumes this year, with queues so long that barriers were put up outside the shop. It sold everything from fake blood to giant Pringles can costumes, and had grown busier in the run-up to October 31.
Now that Halloween is over, a sign for the Christmas Store was spotted in Eldon Square on Monday, just two days after the Horror Store closed. The shop is set to sell everything from decorations to trees, Santa hats, wrapping paper, and gift boxes and bags.
Festive Countdown Begins
Fenwick wasted no time in revealing its 2026 Christmas Window on November 1, and decorations are already up in Eldon Square. Newcastle city centre will soon see its annual lights switch on, the return of the Christmas Market, and the opening of two festive pop-up bars: Christmas on Grey Street and Christmas in Newcastle at Rusty's.
With both Magic Box and Xtras no longer in town, the Christmas Store is expected to become a busy destination for shoppers in the run-up to December 25.
