Chopstix is set to open at the Metrocentre in Gateshead, with noodle boxes priced at just 99p available from 11am to 3pm on opening day. The launch coincides with National Noodle Day on Monday, October 6.
A New Addition to the Dining Line-Up
The noodle bar will join popular chains including Nando's, Zizzi, Wagamama, TGI Fridays and Ask in the same area of the centre. This space was previously home to the Mediterranean Village and the Clockwork Court, which served as a popular spot for meals before or after visits to Metroland.
Chopstix has previously drawn large crowds, with people queuing from the early hours at its Northumberland Street opening in Newcastle city centre last year and at its recent launch at Trinity Square in Gateshead.
Opening Day Offer and Competition
Photos of billboards signalling the imminent arrival generated excitement on social media this week. The chain has declared it is 'opening soon' and will offer a box of noodles with one topping for 99p on launch day.
To mark National Noodle Day, branches in Gateshead and Newcastle will run the 99p noodle offer as they search for the UK's loudest noodle slurper, with £500 available for the winner.
Earlier this week, ChronicleLive reported that the Metrocentre had been sold to London-based property firm Landsec in a deal worth more than £500m.
