American chicken restaurant chain Chick-fil-A has announced a gift to a Liverpool charity to mark the opening of its new restaurant today. To commemorate the venue opening, the company is donating £25,000 to Fazakerley charity Opening Doors Project.
Partnership and Shared Table programme
The restaurant will also enter a long-term partnership with Opening Doors Project as part of the Chick-fil-A Shared Table programme. Through the initiative, Chick-fil-A owner-operators will donate surplus food to local non-profit organisations, helping them provide meals to people in need and making a positive impact on the local community.
Joanna Symonds, head of U.K. Operations at Chick-fil-A, said: “We're proud to support local Owner-Operator David Pritchard as he partners with the Opening Doors Project to help extend the reach of surplus food to those who can benefit from it most.
“David's passion for Liverpool is evident, and we're grateful for the opportunity to support efforts that will make a meaningful difference across the community.”
Charity services and support
The charity provides free meals in a warm and welcoming environment, while its Mindful Hub offers a safe space for people to socialise and take part in activities aimed at improving wellbeing and tackling social isolation.
This partnership is being supported by Neighbourly, an award-winning organisation that helps connect businesses with charities, food banks and community groups across the UK and Ireland.

Broader programme impact
More than 2,700 Chick-fil-A restaurants across the United States and UK take part in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table programme. To date, the initiative has helped provide more than 50 million meals across the US, UK, Canada, Puerto Rico and Singapore.
Liverpool is the fifth of the five restaurants that Chick-fil-A have opened up in the UK, as per their commitment to open up in the UK.
