Casa Italia Finally Allows Large Bookings After 50 Years

Casa Italia, the beloved Italian restaurant on Stanley Street in Liverpool city centre, has announced a major policy change that customers have been requesting for years. For the first time in its history, the restaurant is now accepting bookings for tables of four or more people.

End of a Long-Standing Policy

The restaurant, which has been a staple of Liverpool's dining scene since 1976, made the announcement as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary. In a statement, Casa Italia said: "You asked, we listened. One thing that’s stayed the same for years is finally changing. We’re now accepting table bookings for four people or more. Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, a family meal, or a special celebration, we’ve got your table waiting. Book now and we’ll see you soon!"

Family Tradition and History

Casa Italia has been operated by the same Italian family since its inception. Current owner Arran Campolucci-Bordi took over from his father Carlo more than a decade ago and has worked at the restaurant since he was 10 years old. The restaurant was originally started by Arran's grandfather, Mario, who came to Liverpool as an orphan and worked in hotels before opening his own establishments, including Mario's in Southport, Mamma Mia's, and eventually Casa Italia.

Speaking to the ECHO in 2024, Arran explained what makes the restaurant so special: "I think it's the atmosphere that makes it unique, something you can't replicate. We try to give the local people the best possible food for the cheapest possible price. We make all dishes fresh every single morning so it's fresh every day and I think the people of Liverpool enjoy that. We've served generations so there's that nostalgia there."

He added: "We've seen people in here where the grandparents met at Casa Italia on their first date, it's lovely to see. When you factor in that history to the city, you can see why it's become so popular. We've remained consistent and improved over the years which isn't that usual really."

Impact and Future

The change in booking policy is expected to attract larger groups, including families and celebrations, which were previously unable to reserve tables. The restaurant has long been known for its queues of customers waiting outside, a testament to its enduring popularity. With the new policy, Casa Italia aims to accommodate more guests while maintaining the quality and affordability that have made it a Liverpool institution for nearly half a century.
