A café in Rotherham has claimed to have created Britain's biggest breakfast sandwich, weighing in at 9.2lb and containing an estimated 8,500 calories. Corner Kitchen Rotherham, known for its viral food creations on TikTok, shared footage of the colossal sandwich being assembled by owner Joz Wootton.
The construction began with a generously buttered white bread roll, onto which Wootton layered 10 rashers of back bacon, 10 pork sausages sliced lengthways, and 10 rounds of Bury black pudding. He then added tangy chopped tomatoes and fried mushrooms, explaining that 'you can't have a breakfast sandwich without a few fried mushrooms.' Three slices of fried bread were placed on top as a 'breakwater.'
The sandwich continued with 10 hash browns, baked beans, half a dozen fried eggs, and 10 herbed sausage meat patties. Wootton seasoned the creation with salt, pepper, and a liberal squirt of HP Sauce before pressing the roll together, allowing runny yolk to drip down the edges. He then took a hearty bite.
The video has garnered mixed reactions from viewers. One commented, 'Got heartburn just looking at the horrible f*****. I'll have one,' while another said, 'This is what heaven looks like.' A different user wrote, 'This could genuinely feed me for two weeks.' However, some criticised the ingredients, with one stating, 'Ruined with the black pudding but it looks alright,' and another suggesting, 'Skip the fried bread and the beans and we're good to go.'
