A British man living in Benidorm was left astonished after ordering a Sunday roast dinner at what he described as a 'mental' price, and he was even more surprised when the dish arrived. The classic Sunday roast is a cherished institution across the UK, forming a beloved cornerstone of weekly family life. Traditionally made up of roast meat – be it chicken, beef, turkey or pork – alongside roast potatoes, mashed potato, a generous selection of vegetables, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy, it is widely regarded as a more casual alternative to the much-loved Christmas dinner.
British Resident's Culinary Discovery
British resident Harry, who now calls Benidorm home, decided to put a popular local venue's Sunday roast to the test – especially after noticing the price tag. Benidorm might not be the first destination that springs to mind when you are after a proper roast – the coastal Spanish resort is far better known for its buzzing nightlife, sprawling hotels, towering skyscrapers, and golden beaches. A firm favourite for hen and stag dos, it also draws admirers to its charming Old Town and dramatic, rugged coastlines – a world away from the brash imagery most commonly associated with the destination.
According to the annual Visit Benidorm report, the Spanish hotspot welcomed more than three million visitors in 2025, with an estimated 900,000 of those making the trip from the UK. Its appeal shows no signs of waning, continuing to attract visitors from all backgrounds eager to soak up the sunshine, sand and wild entertainment on offer. TikTok content creator Harry has decided to make the Spanish resort his home for the foreseeable future. He recently popped into a well-known venue to sample some classic British fare – and filmed his experience to share with his followers online.
Unbelievable Value at Uncle Ron's
Speaking straight to camera, he said: 'Today, I'm here at Uncle Ron's, locally famous for the €1 pint and what might be the cheapest Sunday roast in Benidorm.' He added: 'Just ordered myself a chicken roast at a mental price of €12 (£10.40). Do you think that's cheap? 'Cause I do.' The clip then cut to the meal's arrival. Harry lifted his plate towards the camera and continued: 'Look at the size of this roast dinner and guess what? It's only €12, what an absolute bloody bargain. They literally give you a jug of gravy as well. I mean, let's load it up with the gravy.'
After sampling several items from his plate, he added: 'I can't get over the fact that this is all €12... as far as value goes, I mean, you're not gonna get better value than this, I don't think, anywhere else in Benidorm... Look at the size of it - fantastic.' In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were quick to weigh in with their opinions. One person said: '13 Euros with a pint - Holy Moly!' However, others were not particularly impressed by the notion of having a Sunday roast 'on holiday'.
