B&Q has reduced the Daewoo 11 Fin Oil Filled Portable Radiator by 20% in its Black Friday sale, bringing the price down from £49.99 to £39.99. The 2,500W heater is priced below the same model at Amazon (£48.75) and Tesco (£49.99).
According to energy calculator sust-it, the radiator costs between 26p and 66p per hour to run, depending on usage. It is designed to warm large rooms and is described by the brand as delivering 'even heat' across an entire room thanks to its 11-fin design, which is said to maintain heat better than traditional electric heaters.
Features and energy savings
The radiator is intended to help reduce energy costs by heating a single room rather than a whole home. It offers three power settings at 100W, 1,500W and 2,500W, along with an energy-saving thermostat controlled by an easy-to-use dial.
The device comes with four castor wheels and a carry handle so it can be moved around the house, allowing users to stay warm without heating every room. It also includes a tip-over switch that automatically turns the device off should it tip over, and built-in cord storage for tidiness when not in use.
Customer reviews and alternatives
B&Q customers have given the Daewoo radiator a 4.7-star rating, with one reviewer saying: "Great for fast heating. I bought this for my daughter at university [as] the house she shares is quite cold. It warms her room up quickly and holds the heat after [it is] turned off."
Another customer commented: "Worth every penny. Bought two of these and they are fantastic, only using one side and the rooms are warm enough." A third added: "On the lowest setting it's like the Bahamas. Cosy and warm even with the window open [and] heats up very quickly."
Some reviews were less favourable, with one four-star review noting: "Smaller than it looks [and] tricky fitting the wheels on. It gets hot but won't heat any decent-sized room." Another happy customer said: "Great little radiator that delivers on heat at a cool price. On wheels, so easy to move around, and a good space saver."
Other heating deals
Shoppers could also boost their wall radiators with the SmartAir Boost Radiator Fan, which attaches to the top of a traditional radiator and redirects heat into the room rather than towards walls or windows. It is on sale for £44.99 (was £49.99) at Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by Reach PLC.
At Amazon, there is 15% off Dreo's 1,500W Electric Heater at £42.49 (was £49.99), which is the retailer's 'number-one top rated' model and is said to deliver heat 'in seconds'.
